General Dentistry Residency Training Program

About

Welcome!

NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull is part of NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest public health system in the United States. Our 347-bed hospital is located in North Brooklyn at the literal intersection of three Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs): the Bushwick, Bedford-Stuyvesant and East Williamsburg neighborhoods. We treat over 100,000 patients a year, most of whom are underserved and uninsured.  We care for all patients regardless of immigration status; our dental facility has a very diverse patient population which represents over 100 different languages, with Spanish being most central.

At Woodhull Medical Center our residents are exposed to a wide range of patients and practice full scope of dentistry in our ambulatory clinic including oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, implantology and restorative dentistry. Our residents leave Woodhull confident in their skills and abilities to treat patients as they move on to private practice, academic institutions, and/or fellowships/specialties.

Woodhull offers a one-year (PGY-1), with an optional second year (PGY-2) General Practice Residency training program. Our program is fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). The General Practice program averages approximately 46,000 patient visits annually, which makes it the busiest NYC Health + Hospitals corporation dental facility.

The General Practice Residency Program provides each resident with:

  6. Combined Medical and Dental care with emphasis on Interdisciplinary comprehensive care for optimal patient care.
