Daisy Grueso, DO
Dr. Grueso presented Obstetric Advanced Life Support Grand Rounds and helped to launch initial in-situ simulations in each facility to commence the Maternal Mortality Reduction program.
Dr. Syra Madad
Dr. Madad has partnered with the Simulation Center to infuse simulation into many of the health system’s Special Pathogens Programs, such as the Zika and Influenza Secret Shopper programs and the Outbreak Simulation using the AMERCO Mobile Satellite Emergency Department (MSED).

The NYC Health + Hospitals System Performance Improvement Unit
Jeremy Segall and his team have worked tirelessly with the Simulation Center to deliver a range of Performance Improvement initiatives including Debriefing for Behavioral Health Teams, CAUTI training and most recently, Just In Time CAUTI training.

Dr. Eric Wei and his team has collaborated with the Simulation Center to incorporate debriefing concepts into H3 to identify areas for growth and healing.
Queens Hospital
Queens Hospital hosted an engaging, interactive, and well-attended Simulation Fair, their first ever during Simulation in Healthcare Week. The event was staffed by multiple departments, showcasing their use of simulation throughout the hospital.

Central Office Patient Safety, particularly Mona Krauss, MD, and Lara Musser, MD, who worked tirelessly with the Simulation Team to develop curricula for hospitalists for training on the ventilator simulators in each acute facility.
Kings County Satellite Center, who has grown their simulation program markedly during this last year, amidst the pandemic.

This person continues to display a recognizable contribution to the development of the simulation and/or the achievement of its strategic goals surrounding maternal child health. They are instrumental in creating inclusive spaces in maternal child health to learn, grow and share.
Kimberly Campbell-Taylor, MSN-Ed., RN, CHSE – This award distinguishes and honors an individual who demonstrates consistent excellence in the creation, execution, and commitment to a simulation-based program. The program applies focused evidence-based educational and/or quality improvement approaches to tackle healthcare processes and outcomes. The awardee’s dedication to simulation is evident in their leadership and dedication.
Tatiana Malvoisin, MSMS – This award recognizes and celebrates the outstanding Simulation Event (i.e. Simulation Week Event) that the recipient created to promote simulation healthcare education, healthcare outcomes, and/or community health. Their dedication to simulation was appreciated through the attention to detail, planning and execution of the event to generate impact.
Patricia Castro-Auvet, MD and Kiran Ashraf, MSN, RN-BC: Kings County Internal Medicine RRT In-Situ Program – This award honors a Healthcare Team that has demonstrated consistent excellence in curriculum design, promoting learning of clinical skills and communication, and evidence-based practice within a psychologically safe environment. The team consists of an interdisciplinary faculty who are committed to training and educating the next generation of healthcare providers and demonstrate a commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration to promote and coordinate simulation-based education within their specific organization.

Elmhurst Satellite Simulation Center – This award recognizes and celebrates the outstanding healthcare simulation programs addressing both Central Office and local satellite needs to create impact in healthcare education and quality improvement outcomes. The program has gone above and beyond in creating programs and carrying ongoing programs to enhance clinical training and impact patient outcomes.

The recipients and their simulation program have offered innovative concepts and educational strategies to address system needs, enhance clinical training, and improve patient care. Their dedication to simulation is evident in their leadership to influence change across the system and their collaboration with the Simulation Center.
