Community Advisory Board

Our Community Advisory Board establishes an ongoing dialogue between community representatives, planning board members and hospital leadership that contributes in shaping its future direction.

The NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens Community Advisory Board (CAB) serves as a critical link between the hospital and its surrounding communities.  Comprised of community planning board members, community representatives and consumers of the hospital, CAB members meet regularly to ensure that NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens provides the best possible medical care to the community.  In their role as advisors, they represent the views of the community in the decision-making process and provide vital perspectives on the development of plans and programs designed to meet the needs of the community.  Outside of NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens, the Community Advisory Board keeps the community informed of the hospital’s goals, objectives and programs.

At the pleasure of the President of the Health and Hospitals Corporation, NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens CAB members can be appointed by either the Chief Executive Officer, the Queens Borough President or by submitting an individual membership application directly to the CAB. Currently, 27 members may serve on the CAB at any given time and all CAB members are asked to serve on at least two subcommittees. The subcommittees of the CAB are Patient Care, Community Relations, Membership/Orientation, By Laws, Budget/Finance, Parliamentarian and Newsletter. CAB members serve a term of two years and are permitted to serve three consecutive terms.

The Community Advisory Board generally meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday of the month except in July and August. Each meeting highlights one of the many NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens departments and/or services followed by a question and answer session. Members are encouraged to solicit feedback from the community so they may in turn, bring that information back to the hospital. Whenever possible, that feedback will be used to enhance the patient experience at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. The role of the Community Advisory Board is a very important one. To apply, fill out the NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens CAB application.

The Chairperson of the NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens CAB is Robin Hogans, 718-883-2576.
