Statement from HHC Regarding Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Grant to NYU Langone Medical Center for Hurricane Sandy Repairs and Future Mitigation

Jul 30, 2014

“The FEMA grant to NYU is encouraging and shows that the federal government recognizes the great importance of protecting hospitals during disasters. HHC’s public hospital system serves a vulnerable population and had several facilities that were devastated by Sandy. Hospitals such as Bellevue and Coney Island returned to service quickly thanks to the extraordinary efforts of their staffs, but they are still at risk. We look forward to receiving FEMA funds very soon that will allow us to protect those critical facilities as well.”
