Public Hospitals Recognize Outstanding Physicians
Apr 30, 2009
The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) today recognized 30 outstanding physicians in recognition of National Doctors’ Day 2009. These exceptional men and women represent the several thousand dedicated and talented physicians serving the New York City public hospitals, health centers and nursing homes who are helping make HHC one of the safest, most effective, efficient, and patient-centered health care systems in the country.
“These individuals exemplify the expertise, compassion and collaborative spirit that are helping to drive performance improvements across our vast system. They represent the remarkable talent among the several thousand physicians who treat HHC’s 1.3 million patients each year,” said HHC President Alan D. Aviles.
HHC recognized its doctors in two separate award categories, each representing the recipient’s dedication. The Presidents Award for Outstanding Service was presented to Dr. Eric Manheimer, Medical Director of Bellevue Hospital, and Doctors’ Day Awards were presented to another 29 gifted physicians from across the HHC system who vary in age, education, specialties and years of service.
