NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health Receives $500,000 for Renovation of Outpatient Hematology/Oncology Practice
The funding is from NYC Council Member Inna Vernikov.

Brooklyn, NY — NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health today announced that it received $500,000 in FY24 capital funding from NYC Council Member Inna Vernikov to renovate its outpatient hematology/oncology practice. South Brooklyn Health’s outpatient infusion center has steadily seen an increase in patient volume for the last three years and has outgrown its current space. The modernized space will better support the volume of patients by adding two new infusion bays and improve our patients’ experience by enhancing the waiting room and reception areas.
“Access to blood disorder treatment and cancer care continues to be difficult nationwide and prevents people from receiving the critical care they need to begin their journey to better health,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health CEO Svetlana Lipyanskaya. “With the generous support of Council Member Inna Vernikov, we will be able offer expanded services to all patients requiring infusion therapies in a comfortable environment.”
“Our board-certified hematologists and oncologists provide the full range of services for prevention, screening, and treatment for diseases such as sickle cell, leukemia, and lymphoma,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health Chief Medical Officer Terence Brady, MD. “We have state-of-the-art infusion pumps and a fully equipped infusion suite for chemotherapy and other cancer treatments, which significantly reduces the need for inpatient admissions.”

Our hematology and oncology specialists treat blood disorders and different types of cancer at South Brooklyn Health. We provide comprehensive care for oncology and hematology patients, including symptom management, and post-transplant care. We have state-of-the-art infusion pumps and a fully equipped infusion suite for chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.
We also provide a full range of chemotherapy treatment options, cutting-edge radiology equipment for rapid and accurate diagnosis and staging, and novel, targeted drugs, including monoclonal antibodies to treat specific cancers and cytokines that can regulate immunity.
South Brooklyn Health’s hematology and oncology outpatient practice currently provides care to approximately 3,600 patients per year.
