NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens Celebrates ‘A’ Safety Grade with Employee Appreciation Event
Queens Hospital once again recognized as one of America's safest hospitals
Jul 21, 2025
NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens today announced it achieved an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, recognized as the gold standard measure of patient safety, uses up to 30 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, and other supplemental data sources to produce a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. This methodology has been peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Patient Safety. This prestigious recognition places NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens among a select group of hospitals in New York City and nationwide, underscoring its unwavering commitment to patient safety and healthcare excellence.
Queens Hospital held a special celebration last week recognizing the outstanding dedication and commitment of its hospital employees, who made the A grade possible. Employees from various departments came together to celebrate this significant achievement, which reflects their tireless efforts to maintain high standards of care and minimize medical errors, thus instilling trust and confidence within the Queens community.
“This achievement is not just a reflection of our team’s dedication; achieving an ‘A’ grade for patient safety is a significant milestone for our entire community,” said Neil J. Moore, MBA, MPA, FACHE, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. “This celebration is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our incredible staff, who make it possible for us to deliver the highest quality of care.”
“We are so proud of the Leapfrog Safety ‘A’ grade at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens,” said Hillary Jalon, MS, Vice President and Chief Quality Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals. “This is an achievement that reflects unwavering commitment of staff and clinicians at all levels to advancing patient safety and achieving excellence. This honor is a true testament of their work and dedication.”
Dr. Abbi-Gail Baboolal, DNP, FNP, MSN, APRN, BSN, Chief Nursing Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens, emphasized, “Receiving an ‘A’ grade in patient safety is a direct result of our unwavering focus on providing exceptional care. Our team’s dedication ensures that we maintain the highest standards to keep our patients safe.”
Dr. Dave Holson, Chief Medical Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens, added, “Our focus on patient safety and exceptional care is unwavering. This recognition confirms our commitment to clinical excellence and enhances patient outcomes and community health.”
