Bronx, NY — NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln recently celebrated the grand opening of a dedicated wellness room designed by hardworking staff in partnership with WXY Studio. This tranquil space offers a serene environment where employees can take a break from the demands of their roles, promoting relaxation and mental well-being. Equipped with comfortable seating and calming decor, the wellness room provides a much-needed sanctuary to support the overall well-being of our hospital team. This initiative reflects NYC Health + Hospitals’ commitment to fostering a supportive and caring working environment. Lincoln Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center and has the busiest emergency department in New York City.
“I am delighted to announce the opening of our new wellness room at Lincoln,”said Eric Wei, MD, MBA, Senior Vice President of Quality & Safety at NYC Health + Hospitals. “This project has been a significant focus for us, driven by our commitment to creating a supportive and nurturing environment for our staff. I am so proud we can provide a space where our staff can relax, rejuvenate, and focus on their wellness, and look forward to seeing the many benefits this will bring.”
“Wellness rooms continue to be a cornerstone of NYC Health + Hospitals’ Helping Healers Heal wellness programming. They provide a sanctuary for staff to destress while at work and for staff to take a moment to care for themselves. Wellness rooms are a permanent fixture demonstrating NYC Health + Hospitals’ investment and commitment to workforce wellness. These spaces ensure that our employees focus on their own needs in order to meet the needs of the patient populations they serve,” said Jeremy Segall, MA, RDT, LCAT, FPCC, NYC Health + Hospitals Assistant Vice President and System Chief Wellness Officer.
“By investing in this wellness room, we aim to create a workplace that not only supports our employees, but also prioritizes their physical and mental health. We are proud to offer a space where employees can take a break to help reduce burnout and stress,” said Rhayvan Jackson-Terrell, NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln Wellness Program Director.
“We see the wellness rooms as spaces of social connection, with colorful nature graphics that aim to nurture and support our essential healthcare workforce,” said Julie Torres Moskovitz, Director of Sustainability for WXY, the architecture firm that designed the new wellness rooms. “This project came into fruition with a beautiful collaboration from so many different voices. The results are remaking these neutral spaces into art- and nature-filled zones to recharge and relax, and we are excited to see the project evolve with a life of its own now that the doors are open.”
