NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health Will Join Six NYC Parades to Promote Community Health and Wellness to All New Yorkers

Reinforcing its ongoing commitment to community engagement, public health, and inclusivity, NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health is announcing its participation in six prominent cultural parades throughout New York City in 2025. Under the theme “Healthcare Heroes Sailing into the Future,” Gotham Health will spotlight its mission to deliver high-quality, affordable health care services to all New Yorkers, regardless of ability to pay or immigration status. This marks the second consecutive year Gotham Health has taken part in the city’s largest parades, empowering communities with direct access to health information, resources and services. They will join hundreds of other staff and facilities across the health system who participate in the parades each year.
“Our presence in these parades demonstrates our dedication to promoting equitable healthcare services to everyone, including newly arrived community members, ensuring they are fully informed about available resources,” said Michelle Lewis, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health. “This ongoing engagement fosters stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities throughout New York City.”
Gotham Health’s parade season began with the Puerto Rican Day Parade this past on Sunday, June 8, celebrating Puerto Rican heritage and providing attendees access to health education and preventive care resources.
On Saturday, June 14, Gotham Health will participate in Juneteenth NY, starting from Gotham Health, East New York. Honoring the historical significance of Juneteenth, the organization will emphasize healthcare education specifically aimed at reducing disparities within African American communities.
The NYC Pride March on Sunday, June 29, highlights Gotham Health’s ongoing commitment to LGBTQIA+ health equity, inclusive care practices, and advocacy for comprehensive wellness services.
Continuing through the summer, the Dominican Day Parade on Sunday, August 10 reinforces culturally competent healthcare practices tailored to meet the unique health needs of the Dominican community.
On Monday, September 1, participation in the vibrant West Indian Day Parade allows Gotham Health to directly connect with Caribbean communities, offering screenings, preventive care information, and culturally tailored wellness education.
The parade season concludes with the African American Day Parade on Sunday, September 21, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to healthcare accessibility, equality, and empowerment within African American communities.
