Bronx, NY — NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health has unveiled its latest wellness room for staff at Gotham Health, Morrisania, making the completion of the fourth and final wellness room across various Gotham Health sites. This initiative is part of the health system’s investment in workforce wellness under its Helping Healers Heal program. Designed in collaboration with WXY Studio, the wellness room offers a peaceful sanctuary for employees to unwind, de-stress, and recharge. The space features calming elements such as art installations, soothing lighting, and tranquil music, creating an environment conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation. Additionally, the room serves as a hub for staff to connect, debrief, and support one another in a serene setting. This opening follows the successful launches of wellness rooms at Gotham Health, Cumberland, Gotham Health, East New York in Brooklyn, and Gotham Health, Belvis in the Bronx.

The four wellness rooms at Gotham Health are part of a systemwide initiative bringing 20 wellness rooms to staff at NYC Health + Hospitals. The Jeffrey H. and Shari L. Aronson Family Foundation gave a leadership contribution to support the creation of the 20 wellness rooms. Several other donors also contributed to the project, including the Ira W. DeCamp Foundation and The George Link, Jr. Foundation.

“I am delighted to announce the opening of our new wellness room at Gotham Health, Morrisania,”said Michelle Lewis, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health. “The addition of a wellness room allows our staff to take essential breaks, step away from the demands of the daily responsibilities. This resource strengthens morale and ultimately enhances the quality of patient care.”

“Wellness rooms continue to be a cornerstone of NYC Health + Hospitals’ Helping Healers Heal wellness programming. They provide a sanctuary for staff to destress while at work and for staff to take a moment to care for themselves. Wellness rooms are a permanent fixture demonstrating NYC Health + Hospitals’ investment and commitment to workforce wellness. These spaces ensure that our employees focus on their own needs in order to meet the needs of the patient populations they serve,” said Jeremy Segall, MA, RDT, LCAT, FPCC, NYC Health + Hospitals Assistant Vice President and System Chief Wellness Officer

“We are proud to offer a space where employees can take a moment to reduce stress and prevent burnout. This initiative has been a major priority, reflecting our commitment to build a supportive and nurturing environment for our staff.” Said NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health Chief of Infrastructure and Support Services Officer, Roman Ryniewski.

“We are thrilled to open this new wellness room, which highlights our commitment to supporting our dedicated staff at Gotham Health, Morrisania,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health Regional Medical Director, Bronx Jeremy O’Connor, MD. “The new wellness room provides a vital opportunity for relaxation, stress relief, and achieving balance in the workplace.”
