Michelle Lewis, CEO of Gotham Health, cuts the ribbon for the state-of-the-art 3D mammogram machine at Gotham Health, Cumberland.

Brooklyn, NY NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health announced a state-of-the-art 3D mammogram machine, which provides cutting-edge breast cancer detection and a more comfortable experience for patients, is now available at Gotham Health, Cumberland.  Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, and early detection is vital for effective treatment. Traditional 2D mammograms provide flat images of the breast tissue, sometimes leading to false positives or the need for additional tests. In comparison, 3D mammography, also known as breast tomosynthesis, captures multiple images of the breast from different angles, creating a more detailed and accurate representation of the breast tissue.

“I am thrilled about the upgrade of the mammography machine at Cumberland,” Michelle Lewis, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health. “This addition of the state-of-the-art 3D mammogram machine reflects our commitment to providing the best possible care in the community.”

“We are excited to offer this improved screening method to all our patients. With a brand-new machine operated by our highly skilled, compassionate and experienced staff, we can providebetter health outcomes, ensuring the continued trusted of our community.” said Dr. Purnima Popli, Medical Director of Gotham Health, Cumberland.

“I am extremely excited that we can offer this new, state-of-the-art machine to our Gotham Health patients in Brooklyn community,” said Dr. David Ferris, Chief Medical Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health. “We are dedicated to the well-being of our community and encourage all women aged 40 and above to schedule their mammograms with us for an enhanced breast cancer screening experience.”
