NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst’s executive and managerial leadership and Community Advisory Board members join the hospital’s Business Services Center team to cut the ribbon at their new location at 90-02 Queens Boulevard.

NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst recently opened an offsite Business Services Center located at 90-02 Queens Boulevard. The 40,000-square-foot office space, located on the first floor of the former St. John’s Hospital, now houses Elmhurst Hospital’s Finance, Patient Accounts, Grants, and Human Resources departments. The nearly $5 million investment features four conference rooms, a dining area, and a mix of cubicles and private offices. The result is a dynamic, well-integrated environment that enables NYC Health + Hospitals’ administrative teams to operate more effectively over an 18-year period. Along with allowing for the growth of clinical capacity at Elmhurst Hospital’s main campus, the relocation of crucial but non-clinical departments to the hospital’s Business Services Center will lead to better workflow and better staff engagement for these departments, as well as pave the way for construction to begin on much-needed expansion projects.

“Our new Business Center is the beautiful end result of a project that required not only close collaboration, but also outstanding vision, leadership, and input from many different departments and healthcare team members,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst CEO Dr. Helen Arteaga-Landaverde. “By right-sizing areas for clinical care and shifting non-clinical services to an offsite facility, we will be able to expand our existing services and ultimately create a better experience for patients at Elmhurst.”

“As we set our sights on the future at NYC Health + Hospitals / Elmhurst, this strategic initiative provides the hospital valuable flexibility to achieve both short- and long-term goals that will allow us to enhance existing services via planned renovations in our capital portfolio,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst’s Chief Operating Officer Mike Milinic. “The space made available with the transition of staff offsite, helps ensure these projects can be completed with no interruptions in service for our community.”

“The opening of the Business Center at Queens Blvd marks a significant milestone for Elmhurst Hospital in its ongoing commitment to expanding patient care services to the local community,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst’s Chief Financial Officer Roger Zhu. “This new facility enhances the hospital’s ability to offer more comprehensive and improved services and introduces innovative approaches to streamlining back-office operations and support departments, transforming them into a modern, efficient business model.”

“Our brand-new NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst Business Center at Queens Boulevard is a welcome addition that has helped revitalize the Elmhurst community,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst Chief Human Resources Officer Donato Cipriano. “The Business Center allows us to welcome new employees with an emphasis on hospitality while they are initially onboarded.  Additionally, Finance and Human Resources work together often and strategically, which will allow our departments to synchronize resources and reduce wait times. Everyone who has visited the Business Center is in awe of its cleanliness and welcoming environment!”

“This opening up of our new satellite office brings together finance, business administration, and other integral support services into one cohesive and efficient workspace,” said Debra Sataloff, NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst’s Director of Capital Design and Construction.  “The design thoughtfully balances functionality and comfort, incorporating modern workstations, shared meeting areas, ergonomic furniture, and natural light to encourage collaboration and create a pleasant, adaptable work environment.  In addition, this new space also allows the capital portfolio to move forward on the main Elmhurst Hospital campus, making way for much-needed improvements and future projects.”
