A nationally and internationally recognized expert in dermatology, Dr. Han brings deep clinical and academic experience to the role, along with a strong commitment to expanding diversity in clinical trials and advancing equitable access to the latest medical breakthroughs. In his new leadership position, Dr. Han will guide efforts to increase clinical trial representation among communities traditionally underrepresented in research. Dr. Han currently serves as an attending at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Dr. George Han to our hospital as our new Director of Research,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst CEO Dr. Helen Arteaga Landaverde. “We want Elmhurst to be a leading institution in advancing clinical trials in underserved communities and communities of color. Having Dr. Han’s expertise will be crucial as we work to expand medical research projects for marginalized groups that have traditionally been underrepresented in trials. Better advancements in research and more inclusive clinical trials will help save our patients’ lives.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. George Han as the new Director of Research,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst Chief Medical Officer Dr. Laura Iavicoli. “Dr. Han brings extraordinary experience as a nationally and internationally recognized physician-scientist, educator, and leader in dermatologic research. His dedication to advancing clinical trials, translational science, and health equity through innovation will be a tremendous asset as we strengthen our research mission and expand opportunities for discovery that directly benefit our patients and communities.”

“I am excited and humbled to lead the research team at Elmhurst Hospital, serving all who need care in the most diverse population center in the entire country,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst Director of Research George Han, MD, PhD. “We have an incredible opportunity to provide cutting-edge medical advances to our deserving patients and will strive to bring the best care anywhere to our community. I appreciate the support of the hospital leadership in seeing how important it is to advance research, not only for our patients’ sake, but also so that the greater medical community can benefit from the inclusion of more diversity in clinical research, thus ensuring that the treatments we develop are truly for everyone and not just a select few.”

Dr. Han is the President of the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York, a board member of the New York State Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, a Councilor of the International Psoriasis Council, an Associate of the International Eczema Council, and a former Medical Board member of the National Psoriasis Foundation.
