NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue Appoints Christopher Wilson as Chief Nursing Officer

New York, NY – NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue today announced the appointment of Christopher G. Wilson, MSN, RN, CNML, CENP, NEA-BC, FACHE as Chief Nursing Officer. In his new position, Wilson will be responsible for the strategic, operational, and professional oversight of nursing practice across the hospital, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and equitable patient care. He joins Bellevue Hospital after his distinguished service as Chief Nursing Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, where he led transformative improvements in nursing practice, patient outcomes, and hospital operations.

Wilson comes to Bellevue Hospital from NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, a 338-bed academic community hospital, where since 2022 he oversaw nursing and patient care services across a broad range of departments, including nursing, advanced practice nursing, radiology, laboratory, social services, respiratory care, behavioral health, creative arts therapy, and pastoral care. He also provided key leadership in behavioral health regulatory improvements.
Under Wilson’s leadership, Metropolitan Hospital earned multiple prestigious national recognitions, including Gold Beacon Awards from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses for both the neonatal and adult Intensive Care Units, the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award for the Emergency Department, Baby-Friendly re-designation, Safe Sleep Gold re-designations, Association of periOperative Registered Nurses Centers of Excellence, and Pathway to Excellence with Distinction, making Metropolitan the first organization in the world to achieve that distinction.
Wilson has earned multiple state and professional honors recognizing nursing best practices and inclusive leadership. He holds a Master of Science in Nursing and a Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certification. He brings a wealth of clinical, operational, and strategic nursing expertise to Bellevue Hospital as the hospital continues its commitment to delivering the highest quality care for all patients.
