Dr. Wendy Wilcox, Dr. Michelle McMacken, and Roger Milliner Named Power Players in Health Care

PoliticsNY and amNY Metro recognized three of the health system’s leaders as 2022 Power Players in Health Care: Chief Women’s Health Officer Wendy Wilcox, MD, MPH, MBA, FACOG; Executive Director of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine Michelle McMacken, MD, FACP, DipABLM; and MetroPlusHealth Chief Growth Officer Roger Milliner. The award recognizes people shaping the field of medicine. As part of the announcement, the outlets published interviews with the two honorees that covered their path to a career in medicine, the challenges facing New York’s healthcare system, and the future of healthcare. Dr. Wilcox is the Chief Women’s Health Officer for NYC Health + Hospitals. As a board-certified obstetrician gynecologist, she is responsible for leading NYC Health + Hospitals’ efforts to improve care delivery and quality to meet the needs of women who seek care with NYC Health + Hospitals. She co-chaired the New York State task force on Maternal Mortality and Disparate Racial Outcomes and is currently co-chair of the Brooklyn Borough President Maternal Mortality Task Force.
Dr. McMacken is the Executive Director of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine at NYC Health + Hospitals. She founded the innovative Bellevue Plant-Based Lifestyle Medicine Program in 2019 to improve cardiometabolic health among high-risk patients, and she is now leading the expansion of this program to six new NYC Health + Hospitals sites. An associate professor of medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, Dr. McMacken is board certified in both internal medicine and lifestyle medicine.
Roger Milliner is Chief Growth Officer for MetroPlusHealth. Mr. Milliner, a native of Brooklyn, New York, began his career at MetroPlus Health Plan in February 1990, formerly known as the Metropolitan Health Plan, as a marketing representative. He rejoined MetroPlus Health Plan in August 2000 as the Associate Executive Director of Marketing after spending ten years at two Health Maintenance organizations. In his current role at MetroPlusHealth, Mr. Milliner oversees three departments and manages a staff of over 350 employees.
