City & State New York Recognizes Three NYC Health + Hospitals Leaders On 2025 “Bronx Power 100” List

NYC Health + Hospitals today announced that two of its hospital CEOs and the Associate Director of Public Relations at Jacobi Hospital were named to City & State New York’s “Bronx Power 100 list”. Each one is recognized for being a key member of their community, providing New Yorkers with access to high-quality, comprehensive health care while also advocating for their social and economic needs. NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi | North Central Bronx CEO Christopher Mastromano and NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln CEO Cristina Contreras rank 24th on the Bronx Power 100 list. Associate Director of Public Relations for Jacobi and North Central Bronx Hospitals, John Doyle, is on the list at number 84.

Christopher Mastromano is a seasoned healthcare executive with more than 35 years of progressive experience in both hospital operations and patient care administration. Presently, he serves as CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi | North Central Bronx, member facilities of the largest public health system in the country. For both facilities, Mastromano oversees a budget in excess of $950m and staff of more than 4,000. Under his leadership, both facilities were merged into a single hospital- two campus model. Mastromano is currently overseeing more than $300M in capital improvement projects between both hospital campuses. His prior significant leadership positions include; serving as COO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur, Deputy Executive Director at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, Director at Fidelis Care New York, and Vice President of Mary Immaculate Hospital.
Born in the Dominican Republic, Cristina Contreras started her career as a caseworker and progressed through various positions of leadership with increasing responsibility, culminating with her appointment as Chief Executive Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in September 2024. She has over 30 years of leadership experience in executive level management of inpatient, ambulatory, clinical, and ancillary services. Cristina previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, from 2021 – 2024, where she expanded access to care for underserved communities, recruited and cultivated outstanding talent, advanced programs of excellence and improved financial and operational performance. In recognition of her leadership and service to the community, Cristina has been the recipient of a variety of honors and awards including the Government Service Leadership Award by 100 Hispanic Women National, and a Hero of Hope and Champion of Inclusion by the NYC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She also serves as the Chair of the National Dominican Day Parade since April 2021, as a member of the NYU School of Public Service Advisory Board, and on the Board of Directors of R.A.I.N. Total Care, Inc. Cristina holds a Bachelors in Social Work from Herbert H. Lehman College, a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University and a second Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Baruch College. In 2023, Cristina received the New York College of Podiatric Medicine’s Honorary Degree of Humane Letters, Honoris Causa, and in 2025, she received a prestigious Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from her alma mater, Lehman College.
John Doyle is the Associate Director of Public Relations for NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi | North Central Bronx. Beyond his work managing public relations for one of the Bronx’s most important hospitals, John Doyle remains heavily involved in the politics of the borough, through both his work with Bronx Democrats and City Island Rising, a nonprofit he founded to boost his home turf. Doyle can also be found advocating for ferry service to City Island.
