Excellence in Clinical Nursing
Ketsia Ganthier Augustin dreamed of becoming a nurse since she was a child, and she credits the support of her parents, siblings, husband and children in helping make that dream a reality.
Currently working as an Accountable Care Manager at NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Cumberland in Brooklyn, Ganthier Augustin also credits her co-workers and says she is humbled to be recognized for her nursing. “The staff at Cumberland trust me to serve alongside them, working as a team to create better care plans for patients and the community as a whole,” she remarks, adding, “I value commitment and providing excellent service as a nurse.”
Patient-centered care has been the hallmark of Ganthier Augustin’s 19-year nursing career.

“My patients are the most important aspect of my work,” she asserts. “I am diligent about the care they receive and advocate on their behalf to find solutions to problems that affecting them, their healthcare teams, and their organization. I empathize with them and respect their emotions, and work as a liaison between them and their families to ensure great outcomes.”
“Serving patients with compassion helps them feel respected, valued, and heard,” she comments. “This allows them to relax and encourages t hem to follow through with their care plan.”
Ganthier Augustin adds that she takes a holistic approach. “The care I provide is based on a mutual understanding of their whole self: physical, emotional, and spiritual,” she explains. “I take an interest in their lives and activities, and treat them and their families with dignity and respect. I always make sure that my patients and their families are better educated about their health conditions when leaving the clinic.”
Given the complex health needs of her patients, Ganthier Augustin welcomes technological innovation.
“With the health care industry constantly evolving, technology is already influencing the field of nursing,” she asserts. “Digitalized health records and the use of apps to view health progress makes it easier to share information. The increased use of telehealth makes it more convenient for patients to have access health care professionals. In keeping up with all these technologies and changes, upgrading my knowledge base and skillset through training will ensure that I will be ready to serve my patients and the community.”
