Excellence in Clinical Nursing
As a staff nurse at NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Morrisania in the South Bronx, Inna Rozentsvit believes that better patient education and increased preventative care are essential to better health outcomes and preventing illness.
“Preventive care helps to keep patients healthier, and to identify problems earlier,” she points out. “An ambulatory care nurse’s role is to promote preventive care, be an advocate for the patient, help patients to make the right decisions about their health, and to educate patients about the importance of annual check-ups, immunizations, health screenings for high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, cancer screenings, preventive screenings for women, and other health conditions.
“My daily goal is to bring my best qualities to work to promote positive patient outcomes,” she continues. “Being a part of positive changes in people’s lives is what makes the nursing profession very special. For me the most important personality traits are conscientiousness, compassion and honesty.”
“Preventive care is an important part of primary care medicine, and essential for people’s overall health and well-being.”Inna Rozentsvit, Staff Nurse
“My approach to patient care is to be respectful, persevering, and meet each patient’s individual needs,” she continues. “Every patient is different, and has different ability to process and learn new information. Creativity and engagement of patients, and families, are the keys to the best results.”
Rozentsvit says other family members in the medical profession inspired her to become a nurse, which she considers a special profession. “The best moments in my career are having ‘hands-on’ experience, meeting new patients, providing patient care, and seeing the actual results of your work when patients remember your teaching and tell you how their health has improved,” she comments. “My hope is to feel appreciated by patients and families for my efforts to educate, provide high quality services, and support positive changes in their lives.”
Rozentsvit is committed to her own education as well. “To facilitate positive patient outcomes in this complex environment, nurses must continue advancing their skills and adapting to new tools and techniques, and will need to pursue higher degrees,” she says. “I see myself in a constant process of learning new skills to promote the best patient care and to support the principles of nursing excellence.”
