“Nursing knowledge helps me know myself and other people better.”
In her 41 years as a nurse, Patra Lee has found satisfaction and joy as a bedside nurse.
“I am doing the best I can every single day at work to offer the highest benefits to all the patients under my care, so that they may be healed and recovered from illness,” she says. “I strive to help them improve from their current condition so they can return to the community feeling as good as possible.”
“My approach to patient care would be characterized as always preparing for the worst situation and never giving up on patients,” she explains. “My goal is to provide the best nursing care, according to my knowledge. I treat everyone with dignity, so that patients and their families will be impressed by the warm, friendly, respectful services and the exceptional nursing care that we provide.”
A native of Bangkok City, Thailand, Lee said she was inspired to enter the nursing profession by a high school teacher who paid her entrance exam fee. “I get such a feeling of joy from my nursing career,” she comments, noting that the best moments of her nursing career have been when she learned that her patients recovered.
She recalled one memorable moment when she was an emergency room nurse.
“One day I received a huge basket of beautiful flowers mixed with various fruits and a thank you note that stated, ‘Because of you, my dad is out of ICU and about to be discharged home.’ I was so happy that my hard work paid off, and that patient with a critical heart condition was saved,” she said.
