Jacobi Medical Center/North Central Bronx Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program will provide broad exposure to inpatient, outpatient and research rotations Internal Medicine and its subspecialties.

There is a broad range of pathology that will prepare the resident well for ambulatory medicine, hospital-based medicine or fellowship training. We expect our residents to excel in scholarly activities as well as in the care of both inpatients and outpatients. Rotations will be on a 6+2 block schedule, with protected time set aside each week for didactic lectures, journal club, grand rounds and board preparation.

Residents are expected to participate in quality improvement projects. Residents will serve on several committees and deserving residents will have opportunities to apply for multiple scholarships and training grants and recognitions.
In PGY1, residents will rotate on the general medicine floors, intensive care unit, ambulatory rotations and elective rotations. Procedural skill training is provided both in the form of simulation and supervised autonomy.

Subspecialty rotations will begin in PGY2, with residents playing a greater role in consultations, advancing to a more supervisory junior attending role in PGY3. Residents will also have the opportunity to develop strong doctor patient relationships with fixed continuity clinic blocks.

Our program puts the wellness of our residents and their education first.
