Mike has served NYC Health + Hospitals for over 26 years in various roles, beginning his career in the Stores Division at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens back in 1996. Mike spent a little over 2 years in the Stores Division before transitioning over to an entry level position in what was then the Queens Health Network Controller’s Office. Mike served in various roles for the next 18 years within the Network Controller’s Office, steadily rising through the Division.
In 2012, Mike was appointed as Network Controller overseeing various Finance departments for both NYC Health + Hospitals / Elmhurst and Queens. As part of his role, Mike oversaw the integrity of all Financial Systems, covering Accounts Payable, Cash Control and Cash Applications, Fixed Assets, General Accounting and Payroll. In addition, Mike represented both Elmhurst & Queens on all external year-end financial audits, ensuring there were zero adverse finding during his tenure.
At the end of 2016, Mike transitioned over fully to NYC Health + Hospitals / Elmhurst, taking on the role of Sr. Associate Executive Director of Facilities Management / Operations. In his role he directly oversaw all Facilities Operations consisting of Engineering & Maintenance, Life Safety Compliance, Planning & Design and Capital Projects, while assisting the Chief Operating Office with all other Support Services Divisions and various patient flow improvement initiatives. During his time there he has helped lead his team and the Operations Division through two successful Joint Commission Survey’s, the facilities Covid-19 response and has been transforming and upgrading numerous areas of the facility to improve both the patient and staff experience.
Mike was recently promoted in the beginning 2022 to Chief of Capital Design and Construction for NYC Health + Hospitals / Elmhurst. In his current role Mike oversees the $150m+ capital portfolio, encompassing equipment planning, infrastructure upgrades and campus expansion planning, while still maintaining full oversight of the Facilities Division. Mike is currently working with his leadership partners on a Master Planning exercise that will move to align current needs with their strategic vision for the future of Health Care delivery in the heart of Queens. The goal of which is ensuring NYC Health + Hospitals / Elmhurst is prepared to meet the needs of the community at large for the foreseeable future, while improving access to care for all New Yorkers.
