The Ronald McDonald Family Room at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County

Welcome to The Ronald McDonald Family Room at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County in Brooklyn, NY, which opened its doors in 2017 as the first of four family rooms created by Ronald McDonald House New York. This Family Room was designed to bring comfort and support to families with children undergoing medical treatment right within the hospital itself. Strategically located near the pediatric unit, it offers a peaceful retreat where parents and caregivers can rest and recharge without being far from their child’s bedside.

The Kings County Family Room is thoughtfully furnished with comfortable seating, a kitchenette stocked with snacks and beverages, and free Wi-Fi, providing a home-like atmosphere amidst the hospital’s clinical environment. It serves as a crucial support system for families facing the anxiety of a child’s hospitalization, offering a space to decompress and momentarily step away from the stress of treatment. This allows caregivers to stay focused on what matters most—their child’s recovery.

Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am – 6 pm; the Family Room welcomes all families of pediatric patients at Kings County Hospital, regardless of their length of stay. The space is managed by compassionate staff and volunteers who ensure that each family feels welcome and supported. To maintain a serene and healing environment, the Family Room follows specific guidelines: it is reserved exclusively for caregivers of pediatric patients, with no overnight stays allowed, and children must always be supervised.

The Family Room at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County stands as a testament to RMH-NY’s mission to alleviate the burdens on families during their most challenging times, helping them stay together and stay strong.
