Newly hired MetroPlus employees must enroll in MetroPlus Health insurance for the first year of employment.
- MetroPlus Gold Basic or
- MetroPlus Gold Standard Rx (For Group 11 and unions who do not provide Prescription)
If you have previously worked for another city agency, if you have worked for NYC Health +Hospitals in the past, or live outside of the coverage area, you are exempt from this requirement.
If you have a pre-existing condition, and your provider(s) does not accept MetroPlus, an Opt-Out Form is available.

Group 11: Managerial
Management Benefit Fund (MBF)
Enrollment into MBF grants Managerial Group 11 employees access to vision, dental, and basic life insurance. Newly hired employees will receive a Management Benefit Fund (MBF) welcome package via email. If you would like to enroll, you must complete all documents and follow the submission instructions indicated in the email.
Please note, that the MBF Group Number for dental is V53 and for vision, it is #6054.
Group 12: Unionized
Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Flexible Spending Account is a pre-tax savings program that allows you to put money aside for medical expenses not covered by insurance. Any money not spent by the end of the year is not recoupable in the next year.
