Community Advisory Board
Community Advisory Boards (CABs) are the formal and direct links between each NYC Health + Hospitals facility and its patients and local advocates. The CAB members contribute to planning, program development, and service delivery. Members also provide invaluable advocacy and advice from the local community perspective.
All of the meetings of each CAB are open to the public. Community members are encouraged to contact their local CAB office at 212-848-6099 to inquire about the scheduled meetings or to address issues and concerns to the CAB.

Community Advisory Board Leadership

Verna Fitzpatrick
Community Advisory Board ChairpersonNYC Health + Hospitals/Coler
Verna Fitzpatrick has proudly called Roosevelt Island home for over 40 years and brings over three decades of healthcare leadership to her role as Chair of the NYC Health + Hospitals/Coler Community Advisory Board (CAB). As a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator , she has served for 21 years at Northern Manhattan Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, leading with compassion and a focus on quality care.
Beyond her professional work, Verna is active in several industry organizations, including the Black Long-Term Care Executives, where she leads an internship program preparing NYC high school students for careers in healthcare. Her extensive background in long-term care reinforces her commitment to the CAB’s mission of enhancing the quality of life for Coler residents. As a CAB member, she advocates for resident needs, shares expertise with fellow board members, and strengthens ties between residents and facility leadership.
Thanks to her efforts, community awareness of Coler’s excellent care has grown. More people have chosen Coler for subacute services, joined the CAB, and engaged with facility programs. For Verna, these accomplishments fuel her ongoing dedication to service, advocacy, education, and meaningful community engagement.
