To meet the demands of our patient population, NYC Health + Hospitals/Carter is designed, equipped, and staffed to provide specialized clinical support around-the-clock. This includes physicians on site at all times, as well as by telehealth, sub-specialty care that is always accessible – pulmonologists, infectious disease specialists, cardiologists – and a full complement of clinical support services such as clinical labs, radiology, respiratory care, and pharmacy.
Inpatient Dialysis
The Henry J. Carter LTACH is capable of managing highly complex medical patients, including ventilator weaning, complex wound care, and an array of other complex medical issues. Most often, patients come to Carter from short term acute care sites from an intensive care unit or step-down units. These patients often have accompanying acute renal failure with the other medical co-morbidities.
With the Carter LTACH now offering hemodialysis, we can now care for these patients as we have not been able to before. We can offer them the opportunity to benefit from Carters outstanding weaning success rates, wound healing, rehabilitation services, and high performing quality measures. The program is led by a board-certified nephrologist who will be the medical director and supervising physician, she will see the patients with each dialysis run, as well as oversee the dialysis nurses. The nurses and equipment are supplied by a high-quality vendor, who receives high quality and patient satisfaction scores at its existing outpatient sites.
