How do I search for current job openings?
You can find all our current job opportunities at all NYC Health + Hospitals facilities on our Careers website. External applicants should enter the site using the EXTERNAL APPLICANTS button. If you are a current NYC Health + Hospitals employee, you should enter the site using the EMPLOYEES button or by logging into ESS and clicking Careers. .
Can I mail in or submit my resume for consideration for an available position?
No. Because each facility manages its own job recruitment and hiring processes, we recommend that you search and apply for jobs using our Careers website.
If you are interested in a position that requires a civil service examination, please visit the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) website to view NYC Health + Hospitals exams that are currently accepting applications or are upcoming.
Will I receive further information regarding my application?
When you submit your application online, we will send you an email confirming that we have received your application. Because we receive many applications for job openings, we reply further only to those applicants who are being considered for positions.
Will I be subject to a background investigation?
Yes, all of our employees, regardless of title, are fingerprinted and investigated. We do so to fulfill NYC Health + Hospitals terms and conditions for verifying your credentials with regard to work-related requirements and education.
Either NYC Health + Hospitals or the NYC Department of Investigation will conduct your background investigation, depending on your title, role and responsibilities. All information will be kept confidential. We also confirm all new employees’ eligibility to work in the United States through eVerify.

Is there an orientation for new employees?
Yes. Our orientation programs have two parts (core and clinical), with mandatory components for all employees depending on their specific roles. New employees may also participate in Corporate New Employee Orientation.
Nurses participate in education related to their area of practice and their clinical orientation is competency based. The length of orientation is based on the nurse’s ability to progress through the required education and skills validations.

Am I eligible for the New York City Pension plan?
As an NYC Health + Hospitals employee, you are entitled to join the NYC Employees’ Retirement System. Through this system, you can earn a New York City pension. For more information, visit the New York City Employees’ Retirement System.
Do you offer flex time?
The alternate work schedule is available at our facilities based upon your position, duties and the needs of the facility. At some facilities, we use it mainly in the critical care areas. You can learn more about our flex time schedule in your interview with the hospital representative.
Do you support continuing education, professional growth and career development?
Based on its specific needs, each facility has developed internship, externship, nurse residency and preceptor programs. When you apply for a job at one of our facilities, you can discuss the specific programs available with the recruiter or hospital representative.
In addition, some Training and Development Departments offer programs on self-improvement and skill-related topics including:
