A Direct Link to the Community
Community Advisory Boards (CABs) are the formal and direct links between each NYC Health + Hospitals facility and its patients and local advocates. The CAB members contribute to planning, program development, and service delivery. Members also provide invaluable advocacy and advice from the local community perspective.
All of the meetings of each CAB are open to the public. Community members are encouraged to contact their local CAB office to inquire about the scheduled meetings or to address issues and concerns to the CAB.

Josephine Byrne

Josephine Byrne is a Certified Nurse Midwife whose journey with NYC Health + Hospitals began as a clinician at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln and NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Belvis in 1984. As she grew more involved with the neighborhood and joined the Community Board, she saw joining the Belvis Community Advisory Board (CAB) as a natural extension of her work with the community.
Even after her retirement, being part of the CAB allows Josephine to remain connected to the Belvis community she served for so many years by supporting the clinic’s mission in ways that leave a positive impact.
Josephine is most proud of the lasting relationships she has built with her patients. Even today, they stop her in the street to say hello, a testament to the trust and bond they have shared throughout the years.
What keeps Josephine motivated is her ongoing work to ensure NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Belvis remains a vital healthcare provider for women.
