To support the next generation of arts in medicine leaders by providing opportunities to learn, explore and encourage healing, wellness and engagement through the arts and humanities.

Engage Students in Arts and Health Related Employment Pathways

Part of the mission of NYC Health + Hospitals Arts in Medicine department is to support those interested in a career pushing forth art and art programming in healthcare. Our program reflects this value, and engages undergraduate, graduate students, and adults from all walks of life considering a career in arts in medicine. We encourage those with identities historically excluded from the arts, including black, indigenous, and people of color, trans, those from low-income backgrounds, and immigrants to apply. Learning and creating space for new voices will be at the center of the internship program. Fellows and Interns will participate in trainings, attend reflection meetings with staff, and work alongside seasoned professionals to observe, participate and support all elements of the Arts in Medicine collection and programming at NYC Health + Hospitals, the country’s largest public hospital system.

Fellows and Interns will have opportunities to learn about the artists in the collection dating back to the 1930’s, and access training and hands-on experience with digital archiving, and coordinating art for healing environments with our facilities. They will develop project management and data collection skills by supporting Arts in Medicine programs, including Music for the Soul concert series, artist in residency and HHArt of Medicine workshops. Additionally, fellows and interns will have opportunities to hone valuable transferable skills including relationship building, writing, and creating visual presentations for Arts in Medicine.

Currently, we offer one paid fellowship and two paid internship tracks:

Arts in Medicine Public Health Fellowship | Fall 2024 – Spring 2025
